under seat sub options
I know the JVC CS-BB2 fits, but seems to be discontinued and old. Does anyone know how much height space there is under the passenger seat and if these following subs would fit?
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url...0.1294_1&fsc=-1
The two Boss subs/amps(8"and 10") sit at ~2.8inches. Anyone installed these?
Also, i'm contemplating getting a used RSX spare tire bose sub to put in the spare tire. Does anyone have any idea if this would be a better solution, maybe even with an upgraded speaker in that enclosure? Basically, i'm not looking for hard hitting bass, but looking for something that could give me good volume and bass over my upgraded engine mounts and loud exhaust
Thanks in advance!
Info on current setup:
-05, stock speakers, alpine cda-9884 headunit. will be installing 06+ roll hoop speakers (putting in modifry's speakers). Will look into upgrading door speakers as well.

Before that setup I was running a big sub in a custom fiberglass box. It was almost too much. The spare tire setup was perfect for adding some base, but not shaking the car and sharing the bass with everyone outside the car.
This is actually my first post so my opinion may be FWIW but I have the boss Bass600 8" under seat amplified sub. It fits under the driver seat but you basically need to be all the way back with the seat or at most 2" forward. Overall I am happy with the punch it gives. You will not rattle anything but the low end is much better than the alpine head unit and component setup I have in my 05. I got it for 100 dollars on amazon and seems to go on sale occasionally and sometimes is cheaper than 100. I wasnt willing to give up my spare tire or trunk and didnt want people outside the car to hear everything rattling. With this thing being so close to your rear in this setup you will get a moderate amount of punch for a cheap price.
thanks for all the insight. definitely good to hear first-hand experiences.
-jdmst71, i always see that people are putting these under the driver seat, but was wondering if it would fit under the passenger seat? also, does the amp built into that boss sub have outputs so that you can amp other speakers? thanks in advance!

I used to have the RSX sub setup and LOVED it. Had compliments all the time and it worked very surprisingly well.

There is no way the boss600 will fit under the passenger seat unfortunately (I was going to install it there). If you get a flash light you will see how the floorpan rises up under half of the passenger seat leaving room enough only for a smaller sized amp. This weekend I let my father in law drive the car and he needed to move the driver seat way forward and I just pulled the sub out and rested it on top of the hump in the floor in front of the seat. It wouldnt be good to drive this way all the time because it wouldnt be secure in a crash. If your seat is forward enough you could possibly place this vertically behind the seat but Im 6'5 and didnt even want to do that behind the passenger seat due to legroom.
You cant drive any other speakers off the amp in this sub if thats what your asking. My guess is that the power rating if artificially inflated anyways so I dont kow why you want to. I am running RCA sub outs to it although it can be driven with speaker level inputs. I was gong to install a separate amp for my fronts but decided not to after installing this.
