Default Unexpectly great Nav solution!

Like many, I really want useful Nav in my S2000. So I researched on the web (including reading every thread here), decided not to cut up the dash, finally just went to Best Buy and found a solution that I didn't expect. I bought the Garmin Nuvi 350 for $800 and it's great! I thought that the 3.5" screen would be too small but it's not. I mounted it on the dash so that the screen is only an inch or so from my right hand. It does not obstruct any view of the road. The mount works with adhesive and seems really tight. Eventually I'll get it mounted permanently when I get the power cord installed. When the 12v power cord is installed, the unit will turn on when the ignition is on. The unit has an audio output so your guidance can plug into your stereo if you prefer. It also has an mp3 player and accepts SD cards for that. Unfortunately the audio output is a seperate 3.5mm plug which would have to be plugged in each time I put the thing in it's cradle. I may pass on this option. It's a great performer. Satellite aquisition is super fast and it even worked inside my house. Menus are simplest I've ever seen. It doesn't even come with real instructions (available on line) but I didn't need them. The install looks great from the drivers seat (most important view) and not too cumbersome from other angles. I will attach a pic as soon as I figure out how. I'm still a newbie, owning my S2000 three days now!

I'd love to see pics of the thing mounted, but you'll have to find a 3rd party photo hosting site that will allow you to link the pics to here. Only "members" have photo albums here.

I was going to get the NUVI myself, but I found out that the display washes out in bright sunlight. Is this as bad as I've seen in pictures?
In any case, I've just ordered a Garmin 2720. It's a bit more money than the NUVI, but I saw the comparison and it still can be seen in bright light.
Oh, did you know there is a new NUVI? "NUVI 360".

Here's pics. I bought membership since this forum has already helped me a lot. The camera flash makes the unit stick out more than it really does. Too bad it doesn't come in black! The mount is very minimalist and doesn't seem very offensive when the gps is stowed. Clicks in and out very easily. The position near my right hand makes it so easy to drive and navigate at the same time, even easier than an in-dash install. On a bumpy road there is a perceivable shaking of the gps, which is probably unavoidable and doesn't affect it's use. The unit is also portable and you can walk around with it or move it to another car.

Hot damn! Bought a membership so you could post pics.

That is exactly where I plan to mount mine. I thought the mount was a suction cup.

XVIPER
I looked at the 2720 as well. Brightness seemed same side-by-side in the store, which may not give the whole story. I can always read the screen but it can wash out somewhat if the top's down and sun is hitting it, making me have to squint. I have used other gps's and the Nuvi screen seems among the best. The garmin Quest is horrible (in other ways too) in comparison. Nuvi 360 has bluetooth I believe. Not a feature I'll use.

Suction cup doesn't work on the dash, so there's a "dash disk" with adhesive. The suction cup does stick to the disk. Apparently it's a CA law because people are supposed to be discouraged from attaching stuff to the windshield. I don't see the "dash disk" mentioned on the garmin website. Stupid law but I'm glad I have the dash mount.
