Upgraded systems with factory head units?
I have an '02. Been running the stock HU the whole time. I've modified just about everything else about the sound system (like you wouldn't believe!) but the HU is still stock. No complaints really.
The acoustics of the car are just plain bad, as in extremely harsh. For that reason alone, an aftermarket head unit could be a smart move if it includes an equalizer. I'm looking at an AudioControl DQX for this purpose since it will allow me to keep the stock HU. That's if and when I finish my never-ending subwoofer project.

Did the passenger side today... here is a closer look at the hacking required to get the 6x9s behind the seats...

As of now, I still need a sub in the trunk... the mids are filled in nicely with the 6x9s, and the Infinity components in the doors get the top end filled out nice (a tad harsh, but that is the deck). There is no kick, though. At all. I have room for another amp in the old spare tire location, and I think I'll get an enclosure specific to the S2000 tool kit area and throw my 10W1 in there.
