Wooohooo!
I finally have my IPOD on full tilt with this bad boy. I have wanted to integrate my IPOD with my stereo for a while now, and nothing I tried was good enough for me. I didnt like the KCA420i (waaaay too slow).
Anyway, I am happier than a pig in sh!t with this headunit. Has a ton of functions, cheap, looks great, volume button presses in flush (no radio door issues) and easy as pie to use. Best of all, NO DELAY WHATSOEVER!!! As fast as the IPOD itself.
Anyway, if anyone has any questions, fire away.
P.S. For some reason, my sub is hitting 10 times harder and the levels are all at 0. On my old HU, the sub level was on 8, and the bass was on 4. Thats a thinker...
would this deck be better than last years alpine 9853!??!....i recently bought the 9853 off someone for 250 canadian...and i ve been hearing about everyone getting this 9856... im just wondering.
Nope, sounds just as good, maybe even better, but it could just be my ear dyno.

This headunit has the IPOD fullspeed feature, which plugs directly into your IPOD, and is as fast as the IPOD itself.
So how is your IPOD cable routed? Left side - right side? Are you using a DCI?
I have it running to the right. The IPOD sits in the net where the passenger's left ankle would be. I didnt want to do a permanent install, because I use the IPOD when I take the subway to work. This way, its right there. And yes, I am using the DCi, which works perfectly. Still the best option for retaining your dash controls if you ask me.
