Default Upgrading the 01 speakers and head

I have a 01 with the notoriously awful speakers and head unit and am looking to upgrade. I was hopeing to get some feedback on products you were satisfied with. I found around 300+ dollars in best buy gift cards in my appartment so anything I can get there would be nice! I want a good sounding system and want to keep the functions of my dash controls, I know there are one or two head units that can keep them functional without a conversion kit. Any recomendations would be great guys, Looking to get some feedback then I will check out the systems you guys recomend. Money is no real issue (not when it comes ot my car) Thanks!

I looked at the online site for best buy, slim pickings for speakers! A few questions

1) Do you prefer lots of detail and clarity, or a more smooth and laid back sound?

2) Do you want to modify your door panels to put the tweeters in a better place (much better sound) or mount coaxials in your door as stock?

3) Do you want to use your iPod with the head unit? Do you use CDs?

I know! Best Buy has very little to offer, its been driving me crazy. There are a few more head units though so maybe head from bb and speakers from else where? I am looking for clarity, not trying to mod my doors, but I am thinking of roll bar speakers. I got a mp3 player so a headphone plug in would be what I am looking for (got the wiring for it already)

Which deck will allow you to use the stock controls?

Best Buy offers some good stuff.
Alpine ida-x305s runs 350 from best buy. Strictly media only player.
Alpine cda-117 is another good deck and also 350....keeps a CD player and has the RDS feature which shows what song is on the radio if the radio station has that feature, but pretty much any deck you get these days will put out much better sound than stock. I was not aware any decks out there could maintain the controls without th adapter,...which ones do that?????
They sell the infinity line of speakers that will drop right in,....from what i have read. Either the Reference line of Kappa line,....go listen to them as they do sound different since they both can handle different amounts of power. Kappas will need an amp.
You will have to get a Modifry DCI from Modifry.com in order to maintain dash controls,...its about 90 bucks.

Put my alpine ida-x305 in. Freaking love it.

And no deck will let you work with stock controls. Need to use modifry adapter.
