Your hardtop is merely going to cause more rattle when the bass hits.
Maybe I don't have enough bass for it to appear, but when I just purchased and installed a Mugen HT this weekend, my stereo is much, much better... and no rattles are coming from it.

It was a nice surprise on how much better my stereo sounded with the HT. One of these days I'll post my system. Ooops... sorry for being off topic.

Hmnn.. no dynamat installed? If you have high-efficient subs that pump out a significant amt of watts, I would think a hardtop would make the stereo rattle more.

When the top is down and the bass pumps, it's such a sweet sound

I've been in a number of cars with HTs, if it's installed correctly, there should be verry little rattle if any at all, especially for those who decide to leave their ST in place.

as for the origional topic, in my opinion, i can't drive without some tunes (and i usually listen to my music LOUD )..so when i looked for an exhaust, i went Invidia FTW! now, no matter what, i can hear my car ..just look at how many STi owners opt for a stereo in their cars...If your driving your car strictly on the track, i'd say it all depends if music helps you concentrate, but if your gonna be driving "around town" i would say tunes are a must !
