V1 + Viper Proxy Sensor Interference?
I've had a V1 for a few years. It's mounted using suction cups high on the windshield. I've been happy with its performance. I recently had a Viper 5901 alarm installed with a field disturbance detector. I was wondering when I had it installed whether it would cause interference with the V1. I assume the proximity sensor uses radar. I've found the answer is yes. I noticed a persistent, but fairly weak K-band signal chirping all the way home tonight. I took the V1 off of its mount and moved it around the cockpit. When I got it close to the cup holder area, which is where the sensor was installed (below the center area), the K-band went wild. I found when I put my arm over the cup holders it blocked the radar enough for the V1 to go silent, but as soon as I moved it away, the K-band would come back.
I guess one option is to disable rear facing K-band by doing the V1 reprogramming instructions. Truth be told, I basically never even pay attention to X-band or K-band, because my experience with police in the area has been almost exclusively Ka-band, and LASER on one or two occasions.
Do you guys have any suggestions? I'm sort of surprised the radar emissions don't stop once the Viper alarm is disabled. It would be nice if they did. Let me know if I need to go back into the installation shop if they messed something up on the alarm install.

Thanks. It looks like the orange wire is GND when armed. Using that should switch on the sensor only when the alarm is armed. It seems like that is the proper installation to avoid interference. If I don't have to disable K-band, then I'd rather not. I've contacted my install shop and they're looking into it.
