Valentine 1 (V1) RJ-11
Anyone know if the V1 power cable (RJ-11) is exactly the same as a regular phone cable?
I can get power to the main unit, but if I use the RJ-11 (Non-V1) to connect the main unit to the Concealed Display, the Main unit does not see it (Main Unit lights up, but the concealed display does not).
The V1 site says I can make my own custom length, so I would assume it is the same as any RJ-11, but it's not working.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm so close to having everything set up.

Yes, a V1 power cable is the same as a regular phone cable, however...
...an RJ-11 jack has four conductors, but basic telephones only require
one pair, so some cheap phone cords have only two conductors in them.
The Valentine-supplied cords have four conductors, so my guess is it
needs four, at least to communicate with the concealed display.
If you are using a four-conductor phone wire, then I would guess there's
a flaw in the wire/RJ-11 plug.

yep I can attest to that...the cheap phone wires won't work...I tested it with GE phone wires from Home Depot...didn't work...either get the proper cable from Valentine or look for a 4 connector wire
Anyone know "why" this is the case? I checked the colors on the V1 supplied cords and the colors are reversed from one RJ-11 plug to the RJ-11 plug on the other end. I verified the same on my 4-wire regular phone cord; the colors are reversed from one plug to the plug on the other end. Do I really have to order the V1 cable?
you really shouldn't need one from Valentine. Look very carefully at
the conductors in the RJ11 plug, make sure nothing is bent, and that
the plug is seating correctly in the jack. Many old phone wires have
been tripped over so many times that they may not be fully intact.

I ended up using V1 cable...just suck up the shipping charge but hey at least you'll have a great working unit...some things you just have to bite the bullet on
oth: I bought a brand new one with 4-wires and it didn't work. 2 other old phone cables didn't work...
I emailed V1 about it, but haven't got a response back yet. I tried two 4-wire phone cables (1 old, 1 new), and one 2-wire cables with no luck. I conveniently had two V1 power cables (unfortunately 1 is the coiled one), and they work perfectly.
(In all the little tests I ran, they all powered the main unit just fine. It only fails to function correctly when hooking up the Concealed display)
