Default ? about a valentine1 radar detector in S2000

V1 radar detectors use a phone cord for power. Does anyone know if this type of cord can be stripped and wired into the inside fusebox? If so, what fuse should I wire it to...

Thanks

I just did this yesterday. I found these instructions to be quite helpful:

Oh, the current Valentine's come with a kit to hardwire the unit into your car. Are you about to buy one or do you already have an older unit?

Ditto. Just use the hardwire kit. Clip the splice piece that comes with it and install a female spade connector on the end, then just fit that into the correct slot in the fuse box. The rest is cosmetics in terms of routing the wiring. I routed mine up the driver side a pillar, across the top windsheild trim, and out the hole that the peg on the passenger side visor fits on. I just use the visor clip supplied with the V1.

crogers, DEFINITELY give it a shot yourself. I didn't mean to make anything sounds difficult; its not! Read the link from strangedaze. don't be afraid to give it a shot. That's how I've learned. You also have to realize that it's not tough at all to take apart the interior of the car. Everything just pops apart like legos. Let us know how it goes!

Thanks agin for the help guys. I'll try it myself, but I have not noticed any special cord that came with the V1 for this. It may be in the box I don't know. Can I strip and splice the regular phone cord that powers the V1. What fuse do you connect it to?

Thanks again....

If you bought the V1 new, it definately should have come with a hard wiring kit. Both of mine came with one. If yours didn't, I'd call Valentine and talk to them.
