Valentine one power connection
So I wanted to use a longer phone cord for my V1 because the one included with the V1 is too short.
Here is when it confused me. Whe I plugged the shorter one in, the V1 is pwoered up. When I plug the longer one in, nothing happens.
Is there a difference between phone cords? Or does legnth matter? The longer one is about 15 feet (lol).

Check the wires in the connectors. They're colored and you should be able to see them in the clear plastic of the connectors. Make sure that they're in the same order on both ends as the one that came with the V1.
the telephone cords supplied with the V1 have four wires running
through them, but some cheap telephone cords have only two wires
even though they have a standard RJ11 four-conductor connector
(a conventional single-line phone needs only two wires).
I don't know whether a V1 actually needs four wires, but if your
long one only has two, I'd try one with four.

Just go to Radio Shack, your own phone wire, 2 RJ-11 male plugs, and the tool that lets you join plugs and wires. Have wires in the same sequence as V1. I do vaguely remember reading somewhere that wire > 15' may not work. Then again, this is an S, not an RV, so 6' should cover it!
