Default Looking to upgrade my stereo...need help

Well, I am about ready to replace my interior (carpet, seats, door panels) and figured now would be as good a time as ever to upgrade the stereo.

Basically, I'm thinking headunit, door speaker, 10" sub and amp.

What I'm looking for is good sound at a fair price. Also, recommendations for subs/speaker and best location for a sub. I've seen the trunk well, the side of the trunk, and behind the seat setups. Which sounds the best? What are the pros and cons of any of these locations.

What is an average cost of doing this kind of upgrade? I'm stereo stupid.

Any help is welcomed!!

Thanks, Dan

I think this is all subjective to each owner, I would recommend hearing others set up and find the combo you like best or trial and error

just wondering, what's your total budget for all the electronics (HU, SPKR, Wire, Misc installation stuff)

as i said, i'm stereo stupid. I may do it one thing at a time seeing as the new interior wasn't exactly cheap. thats why I'm asking what an average cost is....im not looking for top of the line, just a sub and decent upgrade. I dont drive the car much (13k in 3 years...10k of that the 1st year) but when i do i'd like to hear a better sound quality and bass than what i have going on now

Other people want to help you so they asked about the budget. Is it under or over 1200 bucks .

im an alpine guy so i would look into a decent alpine head unit that will do what your looking for. i went with a media one that uses flash drives or an iphone. $145 and up
speakers: i went with alpine as well as they have 6.5 speakers but are oversided so you will need to make or buy a spacer. $69 and up
4 channel amp from alpine. 2 channels for speakers and last two for sub (you can tie the last two channels for the sub, not sure if it is better) $140 and up
alpine sub $80 and up
ebay trunk box that goes in spare tool area $75

pros: matching alpine setup
any combination you pick will be better than factory
