Default valentine hardwiring

I know I have seen someone before talk about hardwiring a valetine from the courtsey lights next to the rear view mirror. Anyone know which wire he is refering to? Or if any of you have recomendations of a switched wire to tap off.

Check the library. There is a good article with pix. I would not tap off the courtsey light, then it's on all the time. There is an open connector available on the fuse panel that is switched with the car.

The pics in the library don't come up too well. goto www.s2000.org and find it in the DIY mods section. It's really easy and literally takes like 30 minutes if you go really slow and carefully to install. the only thing extra you're gonna need is just a female quick disconnect that you can get at radio shack or home depot for a couple bucks

I hardwired my Passport 8500 to the fuse panel by the drivers left leg. I wouldn't recommend wiring the detector to the courtesy lights because you won't be able to wire an inline fuse from the hot lead to the detector. If something should go wrong with the connection your unit is toast. Just run the wire along the windshield trim down to the box. Check out this link
