Default Viper 5901 Install

Minus the need for the remote start this setup looks really good to me, I like the range it has too and the fact it will report whats going on with my S. Due to recent break in's and vandalizms in my parking structure (One being mine) and the lack of management wanting to do anything I need something good if not great to let me know when someone is creepin up on my ride. I also have seen the proximity sensors and that is another thing I am thinking about..

So my questions are:

1. Do I need anything other than one comes in the viper box to install it on an 06? (I keep hearing about door actuators, my older Civic worked with out any additions to what DEI provided in the box.)

2. Can a proximity sensor be wired and sat on the dash when it is parked with the top up to provide at least 180 degree coverage?

I plan on having the sensitivity cranked up as I did my previous system of which I installed on my own, even a slight bump on a tire set it off.

Let me know what you think!

Also I heard it's a 5 wire door unlock system but can directly connect the 2 wires from the alarm to the door lock module bypassing the need for 2 relays. What would be the benefits to the relays as opposed to the 2 wire?

I have the same alarm but it was installed by a professional. In regards to your questions

1) Yes you can install it with whatever is on the box. You can add some things like i did (Dei tilt sensor, Dei backup battery, Dei proximity sensor) but these are extra.

2) After my suggestion (which i saw over here) the installer removed the proximity sensor circuit board from the plastic cover that comes with and install it under the leather center console arm rest. It can provide 180 degrees coverage but i do not suggest to make it to sensitive cause it will trigger the alarm even by a car passing next to yours. I adjust it to trigger the alarm just as close as you put your hand on the soft top

Same here i had the same add-ons that the previous poster had. Tilt is a must for rims and towing car thieves. And bat backup keeps them from just cutting off wires because the alarm will have an alternate source.

Everything you need to install is in your box. For the door unlock/lock use the empty pins on the keyless entry module. No need to wire relays!

The most important aspect of your alarms effectiveness is the location. Don't have them install it underthe dash where the steering column is. You need to hide the brain or else theives will find your brain and rip it out.

I stealthed installed my Clifford 50.5x, with a tilt sensor and backup battery. For added safety i I also added a fuel pump kill in the event of alarm going off. I had a proximity sensor and it worked fine for about a year, then it went crazy. It would trigger my alarm for no reason. I asked a reputable stealth alarm installer on HT and he said that it's common and no longer reccomends it.

Could you tell me what pins on the module I will be using and the best way to get them in there?
