Default Volume increasing on its own! HELP

I have an Alpine CDA105 installed in my MY'00. I also have the modifry DCI installed in the car. Today, for the first time ever, something very odd happened.

When I am cruising down the road, the volume will increase on the radio all by itself. If I come to a stop, it will no longer increase. To me, it acts like cars that have radios that adjust to road noise depending on whether you are going fast, or slow. The issue is that this receiver doesn't have that function built in.

It's been a number of years since I installed everything, but it's always worked great. Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks,
Shumax

Are you saying the DCI has the ability to adjust the volume with speed? If so, I wonder if it's malfunctioning somehow?

Yes I believe it can. However you would have had to hook it up that way. That or the unit is malfunctioning and has set itself on high by itself. Given what you've stated I would guess the later. I will say Modifry's unit rarely fail, but it is still possible. I would start there.

Normally it's hooked up to read the speed so it knows how fast your traveling so it can adjust the volume accordingly. However assuming you never hooked that part up, then I would assume the unit has gone bad.

Makes sense and I thank you. I'll have to find some time and dig into it. I suppose I could disconnect the DCI and see what happens. If it goes away, that tells me it's the DCI. It's such a pain to pull everything out. Grr! Thanks again!

Yeah, the DCI definitely has that feature. I opted not to install it with mine.

I will try what Peterc86 says when I have a chance. In the meantime, I went out and disconnected the wire that connects the DCI to the vehicles speed sensor. Guess what? No more increasing volume. Guess what else, I also noticed BEFORE I did this that the mute doesn't work, either.

I'm starting to think there is something wrong with the "brain" of the DCI.

Thanks again...

Bob at Modifry got back to me and basically said something is corrupt with the DCI, so I'll be digging it out this weekend so that I can send it in. Kind of a pain in the butt to dig it out, but at least it will be handled.

Thanks for the input here!
