Vote for your speaker: PRO AND CON's
Just wondering what kinda of speakers you EJ's are running.
1 Brand, series, type
2 Price you paid
3 Let me know what you Like and hate
4 Other Audio/Video Equipment
Let me start:
1)Polk 2ways in front, sony Xplod 3 ways in the rear(5.25" x2)
2)100 for the polks? 40 for the sony
3)Polks' awesome, alots of bass and much more clearer than the sony.
Sony..um..let's just say it's cheap
(again, i like the bass but that's just it)
4)Sony half size amp, aftermarket wires, ipod connection, Skipping OE changer

1) Boston Acoustic SL60 components, Audiobahn 10" sub
2) $220 of the Bostons, about $225 for the sub with WLaurent enclosure
3) I like the sub alot, I like the the midbass the Bostons produce, I like the Bostons crossovers. I don't like how bass sounds from the trunk.. thinking of porting the trunk to the cabin or removing the rear convertable tray because of this. Also, the Bostons tweeters can be loud and overpower the mids esp. at high volumes, but the crossover has an attenuation jumper that i've been too lazy to get to (it's in the door panel) so that may help when I get around to it.
4) Alpine MRV-F345 (LOVE LOVE LOVE this amp), Alpine 9856, Modifry IR dci. I love how fast the ipod interface is with the 9856, but navigation through menus is pretty crappy.

1) Alpine DDDrive 6.5 Components, they were Alpines flagship component speakers from a few years ago. And a Kicker 10" CVX series subwoofer in a John aka DarkKnight sealed sub enclosure.
2) Alpines were orginally about $700.00/pair...got em as a gift. The Kicker is $395.00 retail, but I paid less than half of that.
3) The sub is great, but it helps that I'm powering it with over 600 watts of juice. I have no problems hearing it through my trunk and I have a wall of mdf lining the back of my trunk for amps too. The Alpines sound great too, my only complaints are lack of bass when I tried running them full range....They'd distort and sound like crap when I turned em up and the tweeters are on the bright side. But now that the subs in and I have em crossed at 80hz they sound amazing. I can COMPLETELY drown out all wind noise at 70mph top down, you have to strain to hear road/wind noise over the stereo which sounds as clean and clear as can be. (of course its so loud at that volume it's definately at permanent hearing damage levels, so I don't play it that loud often) plus it makes my dash flicker even with the headlights off. I need to check it with a db meter, but I'd bet it's in the 120's.
4) PPI 2150, PPI 2100, Alpine 9855, Alpine 624 6Disc CD changer, Modifry wired DCI, Stinger wiring throughout. Lots of Dynamat yet to install.

I also have the Polk SR6500's and here is a copy of my review from the Polk site....
STRENGTHS:
Funny enough, price! For the category you cannot beat this speaker! Accuracy, frequency response and build quality.
WEAKNESSES:
I have not found any.
REVIEW:
I replaced my JL Audio set up with the SR6500 and the sound quality is simply amazing. By far the best speaker for the money, who needs Boston or MB Quart? This speaker has the best over all sound of any component speaker I have had in the last 15 years. The sound reproduction is second to none.

1.) CDT HD-62US 6.5 components with upstage imaging tweeters. CDT DRT-26 silk dome tweets in the rollbars.
2.) 600+sh
3.) i love them! best speakers ive owned. crystal clear with top down going 80.
4.) JL 300/4, alpine cda-9856, and bquiet sound deadening material in the doors.

1) DOORS: Polk Momo 6.5" component ($275 installed). Mind blowing!
2). REARS: Polk db series 5.25" coax ($175 installed). The 5.25 Momo have magnets that were too big to fit without cutting. Just the right fill to add ambaince.
3). SEATS: Aura PRO Bass Shakers ($125 installed). I'm a drummer and I need to feel the bass drum, not buzz me & the car next to me with police attracting bumping. Absolutely the right mod for my musical selection. Stevie Ray, Zepplin, Molly Hatchet, Dave Weckyl, Steeley Dan.
4). Sound Proofing: B-Quiet 2 layer system, entire car (Doors, Trunk, anywhere there was metal...). $400
5). Trunk SUB: Portable Alpine Powered 10" Sub. Fits right inside the tool box recess and is using a quick disconnect plug that allows to yank it out in less than 5 seconds when I need to use the entire trunk for travel of golf clubs. Not a great sub but I already had it in a truck that I just sold. I will be getting a custom enclosure made with the 8" Polk Momo and 200W Momo Mono Block all enclosed for the same type of portability.
6). AMP: Polk Momo 4/3/2 400W amp driving everthing except the trunk sub.
Here is a thread I started with pics from about a month ago.
