Help!
I need an electronic guru advice. I plan to do the vtec indicator mod by using the LED in the cluster. Since I don't have OEM alarm. Can I use a relay to drive the LED or that too much current for the ECU to drive the relay? Can I use the counter with a LED if both are under 100 mA of current? It's a 05 s2k. Thanks.

i just got done doing this mod, not with an LED, but hooked it up to the right side blinker. it was a B**** getting under the dash, and i, being 6' had to remove the seat. i havent tryed it out, but the blinkers are still working so

Farnell In one. Also no minumum, and very fast shipping.
I have ordered from both these places for various pcbs I have produced (I can hook you up with sweet deals on those if you want)

I did this mod a year ago to the right turn signal. It's awesome, why would you add another light? I followed Modifry's directions and had no problems at all. I liked it so much I did his high beam/ garage door opener mod too. Then, I even modified the top so it can go up or down at any speed. Thanks Modifry.

no need to add another light. it was pain because the wires are so short and crap but still, almost free.
oh ya, THANKS MODIFRY!
Hey modify I'm confused on the setup for the turn siginal vtech mod..... The directions are vague for the beganing of the process... How do I start hooking up the diods and to what wires or am I making my own wire harness prett much with the diods and the wires?

Hey riceburners2001, I think he meant 1N4001 diode. Ask him to make sure.
Just about any diode will work, just don't use anything identified as a "zener diode" or a "signal diode" or a "Germanium diode" . General purpose rectifier diodes, silicon diodes, or schottky diodes are fine.
If you get stuck I can send you some, but you might have to PayPal me $1. The stamp and envelope will cost more than the diodes.
Datbird - Yes the VTEC output on the ECM can drive a relay. You can use any low-current type, Radio Shack should have some though they are carrying fewer and fewer components these days. If you use a relay you don't need the diodes. They were there to keep the turn signal voltage from back-feeding and activating the VTEC solenoid. The relay will isolate the two circuits so you won't have that problem.
The other option is to use a transistor instead of a relay. Smaller and cheaper, (though it will require one or two resistors in addition to the transistor), but again it will eliminate the need for the diodes.
