Default vtec wiring

so my vtec hasnt been engaging, so i pulled out my multi meter.
checked the wire to the solenoid, got 16v so its good.
checked the clip to ecu and it shows no connection.
im thinking of just clipping the vtec wire near the ecu and running a new wire to the solenoid.

my question is has anyone had to do this before?
im uneasy about havnig to clip the wire near the harness.

You'll likely get a lot more info in the "Under The Hood" forum, but
some things aren't clear - did you follow the the factory diagnostic
procedure and reach the point where you determine that there is no
connectivity between the solenoid connector and the correct pin in
the ECU harness connector, or are you just looking for voltage at
the solenoid connector?
You've checked the VTEC oil pressure sensor?

i also posted this in "under the hood" but wasnt sure as to where this post belonged.
i have followed the factory diagram and determined there is no connectivity between the ecu pin and solenoid clip.
and im FI on aem ems v2 and no longer use the oil pressure signal, only the high side out put to the solenoid.
im going to clip the wire near the ecu and just run a new wire to the solenoid, i think that should do it.(crosses fingers)
