Hey everyone,

I've been a member for over a year now, this is the first time I've been in the Electronics forum. I usually don't care to much about my sound system. (it's unwanted weight that slows the car down). But my girlfriend has started complaining about the speakers being slightly blown, and the headunit not being very powerful. She's willing to put a new HU and front door speakers in the car, so I said, hey as long as she's paying for it, go right ahead.

That being said, what should I get? I honestly don't know much about what brands to get, the specs and performance of each HU and speakers. I think shes looking for something in the $300 range for a HU. Whats good out there? Also, I still want to use the controls to the left of the steering wheel, I believe modifry makes a kit for this, is it hard to install?

i think you might need a lil more than that...
since most nice radios (alpine, pioneer) cost around there and nice component set will cost another ~150.

Trust me, you dont want to put cheap stuff on this car, since there are only 2 speakers on the car, speakers make BIG difference,

 

we all have our priorities..

What if I raised the price to under $500. I guess I'd be willing to pitch in, if it's worth the xtra amount. Back in the day, I had an EK civic HB w/ a $450 Apline HU that I was pleased with. My friend is a big fan of Clarion and Eclipse. That being said, anyone else got any suggestions.

If you want to wait a week i will have a used alpine 7892 for sale - cheap (less than $70.00) it sounds great but the face doesn't look too good)
