uhm, buying online is ok if you know what you're doing (you can install yourself and troubleshoot yourself). personally if i could not do that, i would not buy online, just because i feel like an a$$ going to a shop to have them debug problems with something i bought off the net. shops also tend to charge more/give less priority to people that don't buy from them. it's not mean, it's just simple economics/business for them to take care of their customers first.

and as to those 300W speakers being fed 450W, unless you're deaf in one ear, and half deaf in the other. i think that is serious overkill, in fact i think 100W RMS per side is over kill (which is what I have). even with just 100W per side, i cannot listen to it at more then 50% for that long. and my gains are turned down! with 450W you'd be listening to those things at about 20% volume most of the time. and what amp are you using that's rated at 225RMS per channel?

I just went through the same dilema...Alpine or Eclipse. I went to my dealer and asked about the Alpine 7995($299) or the Eclipse 5423($279)...his recommendation was the Eclipse because of better sound quality and it has a 3 year warranty. It also has 5V 100 ohm preouts for your amp. And it looks like Modifry should have the dash controller programmed for Eclipse soon, if he doesn't already.

ruexp66 - Ajjra said himself that his amp wasn't giving him the desired sound he was expecting.

With the right head unit you can play MP3's.
