I'm trying to get a guage on what seems to be the most used alarm.

But i'd like to know specific models and why you chose them.....

i got my Compustar 2WSSR alarm installed for $500. this includes a backup battery, installation of proximity sensor (brought in a dei sensor), hood and trunk pins.

overall i'm really happy with it. the range is unbelievable, for example i can be in class and still have signal to my car. the range is rated at up to 1.25 miles.

definitely take at look at this product

I've got the OEM alarm.. any idea how good it is? No idea if it has a shock sensor, or glass break sensor.

If you have a 2-way page alarm installed, the best way to extend the paging range is to attach the antenna as high and as visible as possible.

My antenna initially had the antenna under the dash (like most other cars), so the paging range wasn't that far as compared to 1/4 mile claimed by Clifford. Then I relocated the antenna on dash, the range has improved significantly. Lastly, I moved the alarm receiver antenna to the windshield right behind my rear view mirror. Now, I can truly appreciate 1/4 mile remote/paging range claimed by manufacturer.
