Default What do you think of my stereo setup (AP1)...

So i'm looking to get a JVC Arsenal KD-A725 cd player. Has 20 watts RMS, and CEA compliant 2006. So basically it has the strongest amp for a deck. At least from what I can tell. For door speakers I was leaning towards Polk Audio db651s. I am not looking to add an amp either. What are your thoughts on the combo? The deck should be able to push these Polks adequately?

Nice, I just ordered the KD-925BT. Your deck should be fine for those speakers. I run the same speakers (6x9) in my accord off a Pioneer head unit, sounds great. I am not running them off an amp either.

As always, audio is very subjective. Clarify exactly what you mean by "adequately". What you consider to be adequate may not be what the next person considers adequate. Never assume that your preferences are universal. If everyone though it was adequate then no one would bother with amps and would just use that head unit or similar.

I'll also add that what's adequate in an Accord might not be in a noisy S2000.
That said, those speakers appear reasonably efficient, and you can always add
an amp later if you want more power.

I guess what I am looking for from these speakers is...better performance than stock by a decent margin, nothing crazy. At times I was ok with the stock setup so i'm not too far from being satisfied. I guess the main thing is, can the stock head unit adequately push the Polks.

Also on a side notes. I've seen Pioneer head units state 22 rms and are cea compliant , but then on crutchfield it says 14 watts rms. So which is it?
