I'd love to join this, but I can't see myself driving more than a few hours for such a meet... too many things to worry about close to home these days.

unless we plan this event way out, I will most likely be in the same boat as Mac. Incidently we only live about an hour away from each other so maybe we could have East Coast Central Florida EJ meet all on our own!

I think fall would be better. September is a nice month, nice weather, nice scenery (awesome for pics), just more comfortable. Plus, we all know s2000s do NOT like to be flogged in the summer heat.

Anyone know how far (approximately) Virginia is from NYC? (miles and time)
358 miles or 6 hours and 50 minutes if you drive the posted speed limit.

NYC to VA Beach

I agree that September would be a great month.

Why not just have an EJ section durring the Wake the Dragon event?

I know quite a few people are planning to make it out to Wake the Dragon. It is a draw for people who are further west than Buffalo or Memphis.

There will be more to do than just EJ's listening to each other's systems.

Just my $0.02

I think it would take away from both events. Besides, April is a little close. Everyone will want to check out each others systems etc, and there might not be enough time. This way we'll have all the time in the world.

A)Try not to have a more than 5 hour drive for anyone
you are kidding.... right Dave? Mass.? Rhode Island? even the Dragon is a minimum 13 hours or so for me. you start talking some of these other locations.... try 5^2 hours.
just as an idea -- Google maps estimate Hagerstown, Maryland as just over 23 hours drive time, and 1,100+ miles one way. Virginia Beach, VA is ~1,100 miles and just under 23 hours each way.

i'd personally draw the line around 15 or so hours... i'm willing to give a little, but driving more than 6am to 9pm starts to really wear on me. i've done just under 14 hrs in a day and it was tough but i'd do it again.

honestly guys - i'm so far out it'd be hard for me to make anything but the Dragon.... John, i appreciate the thought. my situation is better vacation wise since the employer change, so i'd be able to get some time to do it. right now, the wife and i are going to try and make 2 meets this year. SESM is likely to be one (though having it in Knoxville, TN is hardly South ), the 2nd is up for grabs still. Dragonball Run seems likely...

September could be a good month for me as well... a little cool would do me nicely.
Plus, we all know s2000s do NOT like to be flogged in the summer heat.
mine doesn't mind the heat at all.... 340 days a year, it's hot down here. heck, late last week it was in the 80's w/ 90% humidity.

oh -- as a last point of note. i realize that for the MA guys, a Dragon trip is about 18 hours. that's pretty huge. so, don't schedule the dragon just for me or anything. as much as it stinks, i know that i'm just WAY far out compared to most of yall.

Asheville NC is near the Dragon, central to the entire East Coast, and has plenty of hotels, B&Bs, and things to do - just an opinion.

I think Virginia Beach will be the farthest I'll be driving. Even that will take me about 12 hours... That's a long time in an S. I won't be going to the Dragon anytime soon.
