Hmmm...what do you guys think of this amp rack for my pair of big Nakamichi amps? There'd be a lot of stress on that one thin, piece of MDF that holds the two amps together and the second amp would hang above the sub enclosure (though nothing would actually touch it)

I'm thinking 3/4" MDF...

I just can't picture it personally.. i mean.. i don't see that much space back there in front of the trunk lining but before the hole in the trunk.. i thought it was like 6" max space.

Yup...6" on the dot from my measurements...Furthermore, there is a 2" gap between the front wall of the tool well and the sub box (which you can sorta see in my picture )

I figure 3/4" for the back piece of MDF, 2 5/8" for the rear amp, 1" of clearance, and 3/4" for the front piece of MDF.

For a total of 5 1/8"

As for the front amp, 7/8" will be on the shelf and the last 1 3/4" will hang precariously above the 2" gap between the front (but won't touch it)

Heh heh...I was actually gonna paste the two amps into the picture but I figured that would look *too* silly

I mounted mine on the deck lid :

Granted this is a little more complex but it works very well. The weight on the trunk it a little heavy but its nice anyway.

Woah...crazy...I can't imagine that would be good for heat dissipation though...or can I?
