Well honestly the weight on the trunk lid will close it, you won't have to "slam" it closed ever again trust me. You will however need to hold the trunk up afterwards The amp rack is made completely out of fiberglass except for 4 very small pieces of MDF, on the edges. The fiberglass takes a few days to make, you have to make it so its hollow.

Thanks man, I'm still pondering the removal of the spare tire as well, so I'm not sure exactly how I'm going to do this. If the trunklid deal ends up being my solution I am definitely going to drop you a line!
