Default Wire's Taking Up Kick Plate Space

Hi Guys,

I had this stereo shop install my components & amp for MY03 s2k. I guess they ran all the wire through the left side of the car because I now have a slight bulge in the body pannel right next to the kick plate so I'll scrape the clutch peddle everytime I move my foot to the kick plate! Very Annoying!!!

I already went back once to ask them to fix it. While the bulge did go down a little, it's still not very convenient for me to place my foot there. My question is: is this normal or is there space higher up where the can move the wire to so I won't have to fight for foot space?

Which wires? Check the thread on running wiring.

I ran the power wires down the passenger side. I ran my interconnects from the HU to the amp through the center console and the speaker wire for the fronts through the center console also.

The only thing near the kick panel (under the kick panel.) is the wiring to the door speaker.

It's possible that your installer connected to power at the fuse panel and left some extra wire under that kick panel.

It's pretty likely they just lost the clips holding the kickpanel on. Check it out, and make sure it is securely in place. If not you can get replacement clips from your local Honda dealer.

that's a pretty tight area up under there with lots of factory harnesses and wiring... like Pete pointed out, there isn't a whole lot that they should need run up in there, but if they put much of anything, it could account for the additional space.

i seem to recall that higher up in the dash on that side and lower along the floor there were some decent sized gaps for additional wires... somehow i managed to get speaker wiring, turn on leads, and car alarm wiring through that panel w/o those kinds of issues...

Its best to run any wiring down the right side of the car. Very little stock wiring is on that side of the car. I ran all my interconnects and speaker wirings on that side with plenty of space and I ran the power cable down the left side to keep the power with the power and the rest seperate.

I rewired the entire stereo system and have never heard any kind of noise at all. I used 4 conductor 12-gauge pro audio speaker cable and 1 set of 2-pair, 4 conductor RCA monster cable and 1 set of 1pair, 2 conductor RCA monster cable

The bundle of cable was not small and you can't even tell I did any wiring at all.

Check in out, just pull the door kick plate off and lift up the carpet its just a few clip no tool needed.

Sounds like the installer was/is just lazy.

I like to run wires seperately just to avoid any noise problems.

Power for amps down the passenger side sill
Rear Speaker wires down driver's side of console
Low-level RCA's down the passenger side of the console

The driver's side kick panel is pretty well packed from the factory. However a few wires should be able to be routed without causing the panel to "bulge out"

Thanks Wlaurent. I'm going to have the shop try to fix it for me.
