Default Speaker Static

Ok. I've got Polk speakers that came with my Lucid rear panel system in my car. In the last few days I've heard some rattling coming from either them or the area around them (I haven't had an opportunity to test yet to find out which). I can't imagine that I did but do you think I blew them?

Not enough information.

Are you running an amp? If so how much power does it push? If not, stock HU or Aftermarket?

Who did the wiring, and how?

It could be something rattling in the trunk, top well or under your seat or even in the center console area.

It could be a blown speaker

It could be a loose connection

It could be the speaker coming loose from it's mounting.

It could be another component like the amp or HU.

Is this with the CD, Radio or both?

Could it be the MP3 file itself. or did it work before? Does it play on other players?

Can you check for a loose connection?

if it's only certain songs, it could be a resonance issue...

check the rubber surrounds on the speakers to make sure they have good integrity.

also, put one of the CD's in w/ the offending song set on repeat. pull your seats forward and try to find the noise... press on various panels and such to see if you can stop it.

Remember that those plastic panels are not great mounts. You don't want the power up too high on those rear speakers, just enough to create some fill.

That's a good thought, too. Maybe I'll tear them out and see what I can do to firm up the mounting.

I've pulled the speakers and it's definitely them though I'll be damned if I can figure out what happened. I can't tell if the cone has detached or if it was supposed to be how it is and the static-like noise is coming from somewhere else. I played around with it a little bit and was able to get the noise to stop by applying pressure in a couple of places but nothing that will work permanently.

Time to buy new ones, I guess. I'm thinking this will be the last set of Polk speakers I ever buy!
