The WORST part on the S2000
Boy was I disappointed when I got bought my '00 S2K, complete with factory 6 CD player, and couldn't hear a note with the top down! Did the sound engineers at Honda design the speakers with a sake hangover?
Well, that all got fixed this week when I replaced the anemic stock speakers with a set of 6.5" bi-axial speakers from MB Quart. The 6.5" mains replaced the stock units, while the tweeters were mounted in the "A" pillar, at the same height where the vents exit--the highs would get lost if they were mounted in the door, IMO. And YES, the A pillar vents still work.
I must say that I'm quite pleased. I don't see myself ever investing in some trunk-mounted 12" woofer and 1000W amp--not my style. But it is nice to get the most out of the stock system, and enjoy my favorite new CD while driving down my favorite twisty road.
