Default Would you get this set-up?

I'm currently looking for the perfect setup. Something that will not run me into the ground, but will still deliver amazing sound. I listen mostly to Rap/hip hop/ R&B. Also some trance.

This is what i'm thinking so far, but i need some input as i do not know.

Head-unit: CDA-9835 Alpine Head Unit (or 9855)

Cd-Changer: CHA-S634 Alpine Cd Changer

Seems like a good and popular choice around here.

Probably a fine choice as well, though don't take my word for it since I really haven't put any research into CD changers, but if you're on a budget and especially if you download most of your music, you may just want to save the $$$ and change the disks yourself or use MP3 disks so you won't have to switch as often.
I agree with this thought process. I have the 9835 and had a changer, but after I realized that I could put like 12 albums on one CD no need to spend the money on the changer. I also would put the money into a nice set of components. Based on the type of music you like I would look at either Infinity Kappa's or MB Quart. I'm not to familiar with the MB Quart but there are guys on here that can talk about them more. I've put several sets of Infinity Kappa's into S2000s. I would recommend you find a quality audio shop and listen for yourself. My experience tells me that what I like to hear in a system is different from someone else.

As far as the sub I would look at the Alphasonik PSW810. It's only a 10" sub but it does deliver quality sounding bass in the S2000, and if you go with the Van Gogh 500.4 you can bridge the rear two channels and power the Alphasonik with 500 watts @ 4ohms. This will deliver very nice bass.

Thanks a lot guys,

I will look at the infinity speakers.

Are the alpines i mentionned no good?

Also, i would like the cd changer because i have a lot of ORIGINAL CDS and i don't like to always switch the cds as they get scratched and all. I do listen to some mp3s, but not that often.

What gauge wire should i use?

Also how strong should the amp be, i want to put extra rear speakers in the car therefore i will need a 4 channel amp for sure for the speakers alone. And then should i get a 1 channel for the sub or a 2 channel and just bridge them. Or should i just go for a 5 channel one?

Thanks, Dave

(by the way, i love this s2000 forum, you guys are all so friendly and amazing!)

Everything sounds great, but let me make a suggestion....

I was gonna make it anyway, but since you said you have original CDs and you dont want to scratch them......there is only one word for you....IPOD.

Forget the changer. Get a 40gig Ipod and youll have all your music with you, with no CD changing.

Great call Dave!

Nothing wrong with the Alpines, and if you've listen to them and you like them then go with them.

If you get a good set of front speakers there really is no need for rear speakers. That from a guy that has S-pods. I do like my S-pods, however, I'm not sure that they are necessary. If you really want rears I would do it only after I tried the front components with a sub.

I would go with a Van Gogh 500.4. This would give you 125 Watts RMS for the front channels, and you could bridge the rear channels and get 500 Watts RMS @ 4ohms to power your sub.

Here's how I built my system.

1. Headunit
2. Front Component Speakers
3. Amp
4. DCI to maintain controls

This was my first setup. Then I added the following when I had more money.
5. Sub
6. Sub Amp
7. S-pods

Just with the first four you will have an incredible improvement in your system. I had the first part for a year and was very happy with it. Although now that I've added the sub I'm really happy now with the sound reproduction. The next step for me is to add the Ipod.

Crutchfield has a great price on the alpine 9833 right now. This is the same HU as the 9835, only difference is the 9835 has a nicer display.

$299, Free Shipping, Free Wiring Harness, and Free Wiring guide. Plus it's crutchfield so your product is under warranty.
