XM is doomed. Whoever decided to adopt a monthly fee pricing model should be fired immediately.

Wait a minute...let me get this straight...I need to pay to have someone else pick my music?

Let me guess...we also get all of the annoying radio commercials still?

Hey, wait a minute guys. For those of you who live in big cities with decent radio stations, you may not have much of a need for XM. I live in an area that has the worst radio stations in the world, and I have seriously been looking at XM. A lot of the time I end up turning the radio off because there is NOTHING worth listening to, and the same old CD's are getting old. My wife and I are so out of touch with the latest music, we don't know what are good CD's to buy. $10/month is peanuts and would be well worth it for me.

Is XM vulnerable to rain fade?

I just finished doing some research on XM and, specifically the Pioneer FM Modulated unit that blwnnsx is talking about. $349 installed is a very good price, Circuit City wanted about $420 for the same thing.

The XM service itself seems pretty good. 30 of the 100 stations have no commercials, and the ones that do it is 6 mins/hour or less, which isn't much. I like the fact that you can tune the station based on genre, whether it's news, jazz, country, rap, comedy, whaever. And many of the stations are uncut, meaning unedited versions of songs (mostly applies to rap).

If you live where there are few stations or constantly travel between cities, XM seems like a great deal. Yes, it's cable TV for your radio, but that's what I'm looking for.
