Default XM Satellite Radio Reciever

I've done some searching best I could and read that the antenna doesn't haveto be drilled through the trunk. That set aside most of my worries. I read that a few users used Terk Micro antennas instead of the Antenna with the kit. I am curious if you needed the antenna from the kit to modify the TErk antenna. The OEM antenna is $100 and you can buy some basic small antennas for $30.

Any tips of suggestions for this are greatly appreciated.

I changed my large original xm antenna for the terk micro a few months ago. I know that you have to use a dual to single input adapter like this one: adapter clicky because the micro antenna has only one input for the receiver. It sucks when you don't realize this and have to wait a week to get one from somewhere.

Also I moved it from the trunk to the dash, but it doesn't seem to work as well there. I'm probably going to be looking for a better place soon.

The top section of the hidden compartment seems to be the most popular place with all of the posts that I have read. I tried it myself and have been pleased with that location. It is out of site and I seem to get three bars on my Sirius reception.

Thanks for the info guys. I ordered the antenna and adapter and picked up the XM mounting kit and reciever from the local dealer for $275. Not a cheap option for XM but keeps the car looking clean.

I will try the secret compartment option first and will have the antenna painted body color and put on the trunk (Magnet) if needed.

Any more tips are greatly appreciated, I will be installing this weekend.

OK, I did the install this weekend and had all the adapters and parts for the antenna. I ran into an issue with the adapter where the inner most whole on the plus was too small for the honda reciever piece (male part in the female outlet). Anyone else have this issue? Am I stuck using the stock Antenna at the cost of $100 or at least buying it to splice the connectors onto a better antenna?

Also anyone know which input on the reciever is "Ter" and which is "Sat"?
