Default Aem infinity not connecting

04, boosted

Okay peeps I just installed my infinity. However; it's not wanting to connect. Theres power, I can turn over the car but it won't actually fire.

I loaded a base map into it but I'm not even sure it's even in the unit.

I switch laptops and was able to connect for a minute but then tried again and it won't connect to either laptops. It gives me the same error code which I can't remember what it says. Has anyone had this issue before?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Can you elaborate a bit more? You've given some pretty generic explanations.

"It's not wanting to connect."
I'm assuming ECU is plugged in, ignition key is on, and a USB cable is connected from the ECU to your computer? Does it ever connect?

"There's power, I can turn over the car but it won't actually fire."
There's power where? Does the permanent +12V input, ignition switch +12V input, and relay in +12V input all have power on the Infinity? Does the flash enable pin have +12V?

"I loaded a base map into it but I'm not even sure it's even in the unit."
How did you load a base cal into it without connecting? Can you go over the steps in which you loaded the base map into the ECU?

"It gives me the same error code which I can't remember what it says."
This isn't helpful at all. Describing the error code would help quite a bit.

Other questions:

- What wiring harness are you using? The AEM PnP harness?
- Have you modified the wiring at all?
- Have you read the instruction manual(s) that AEM provides such as the quick start guides?

Check your USB cable.... else youll get a blonde moment like I had. We had an AEM engineer show up and turns out my cable was bad.

What version firmware are you using? The earlier firmware was known to brick the ECU and require a hard reflash... if that's what you call it.

Pull the power by disconnecting battery. Then try again. Common problem with the old firmware.

Aem released new firmware a couple weeks back which fixes this issue. Update your ecu to avoid this problem.

Have you ever connected to the ecu?

Was it new when purchased?

If no and yes then did you goto the www.aeminfinity.com site and register the ecu? You have to register the ecu in order to access the actual firmware for the ecu. Every Infinity has specific firmware tied to the serial number of the ecu. You have to update that before you can load any maps or even connect to it.

Got it working, it was a firmware issue, but atm it's kinda buggy. It will connect and then not want to connect. But for now it's connecting and working fine, with the exception of my coolant temp sensor going nuts but all is fine now.

wazdii, I'll be hitting you up shortly once I get my meth kit installed.

The sensor calibration in the base session file is a little off. You'll see 220-230 if its left that way. Nothing to worry about
