This weekend I believe I damaged one of the ABS sensors on my car (2008). When I started the car up, the ABS light came on, VSA Off was shown and the triangle with the exclamation point came on. Pulling the battery didn't fix this either. I found metal shavings on one of the sensors from drilling the screw out of the rotor holding it in place but I think I may have damaged it while removing the shavings (not sure). I'm not sure if that is the cause or if it's something else (or another sensor). Unfortunately, most OBDII readers won't read chassis codes so I can't reset the ABS light and I can't see which sensor (if that's what is causing the light to come on). One of the Civic guys suggested pulling it in Flashpro but I didn't have mine with me. (it's sitting in the box in my closet ).

Does flashpro have the ability to read the code and reset it? Not disable it? I want to see if it's just a matter of resetting the ABS or it's really damaged, and if it's damaged, I'd like to know which sensor is damaged.

I don't think fp is capable of that but I could be wrong.
ABS from my experience will reset on its own if everything is ok.

 

I think you are right about the code just clearing on its own (and I drove 5.5 hours back home from Gingerman Raceway last night and it stayed on the whole time)... but I also was told that it won't clear on its own and that you need to have it cleared by the dealer. I did try the jumper method and brake on/off trick but I was told that doesn't work on '06 and up.

I honestly do think it's the sensor that I damaged, but I'm not sure which one it is... and I could go buy a new one and go around the car and keep trying one after another but it would be a lot more convenient if I knew which one it was and be done with it.

I think you need a HDS to do that kind of stuff

 

This is probably a dumb question, but did you check your brake fluid level? It would be awesome if it were something simple and I think that's the simplest fault to cause the error light condition you're describing.

That's probably what it is, the fluid level has to be damn near to the full mark otherwise you'll get those lights. Not sure why I didn't think of it since it happens to me all the time because it seems to always be the case where I have new track pads and old street pads or the other way around.
