ECU staying on after ignition is switched off
Hey boys/girls, I'm having an issue with my shop car and was curious if anyone has had the same problem when they installed an ECU. I have an Elite 1500 with boomslang patch harness. I have known for a long time that the ECU stayed on after the ignition is off. At this point I'm assuming the capacitor inside the factory ECU is keeping it powered on for a while after the key is switched off. The reason I'm assuming this is because on the OE pinout the power wires that are also powering my Elite are a switched power source. So with the factory ECU out of the loop it is an ignition switched power source. Once the factory ECU is plugged in my Elite will not shut down just like my Emanage previously. So I guess what I need to do is figure out the correct pin on the factory harness to use for a switched power source so the Elite will shut down when I shut the key off. Currently the car runs after the key is off until it runs out of fuel and shakes the pistons quite a bit which is not a good situation. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.
The Elite is probably controlling (via it's output ports) some device that is receiving power, but not from the same source as the Elite. Everything controlled by the ECU needs to get it's 12V from the same source as the ECU.
Pins A2 & A3 are the current 12v sources, when the factory ECU is unplugged A2&A3 are a 12v switched power source, however once the ECU is plugged in the Elite stays on for a period of time. When you cold start the car and shut it back off it shuts off normally, its only after an actual extended running condition that the ECU does not shut off.
