using another oem ecu on my car..
Ok, from what i've read so far, to put another ecu on the car, i would need to take the ecu to the dealership and pay 150 or so? (i gues to reprogram the immobilizer..?) Is this my only option?
ie has anyone tested another ecu on their car without having to go to the dealership?
*if it matters, i'm testing if i'm having issues with my wiring harness or the ecu. my tps voltage seems to fluctuate up and down (.4% to .8% --> using an obd reader) even when its not connected to the sensor.
*i wouldn't be starting the car, i just have to turn the ignition on and look at the tps readings. Just not sure if it'll even go this far with a different ecu (without reprogramming).
HOpe someone can shed some light on this, thanks

You need a non-immobilzer key that fits your car, and a immobilzer key from the donor car, tape them together, and start your car.
i think thats what you guys are saying right? lol THanks for the suggestion!

If you don't plan to start the car you might be able to just turn the ignition to ON and test your TPS like you're thinking. The immobilizer disables the fuel pump but nothing else as far as I know. The engine will still turn over if you crank it but not fire up. I'd be willing to bet the sensors would be reading just fine, enough for you to test the TPS.

You must tape the immobilzer key to a non-immobilizer key that fits your car. You don't tape anything to the PCM. The key must me turned to on for your cars immobilzer receiver to read the donor key.
