If you're hitting VTEC daily driving, you need to get your foot out of the gas and not shift so high. I shift at 3.5k max, usually 2.5-3k depending on the gear. I find that I'm still keeping up with everyone else and I get 26mpg mixed driving.
I tried the whole shifting uber low thing. 2-3k and i was a turtle getting smoked right and left by everyone.

same here - mine is set at .950 bar and also bumped it up to 4800.

And I wasn't telling you how to drive your car. Just stating a more mature way to drive and increase gas mileage.
