I did, I'm just confused as hell.

Btw, I understand Hondata released updated software, I'm just disappointed I need to replace the sensor all together because it's a fairly new car. Should I be? I guess not, but I still am. Reason being is because I have an aftermarket exhaust and no warranty and that's reason enough for my dealership to find an excuse to not cover it even with the recall. If I'm missing something here please tell me.

The primary O2 sensor isn't necessarily related to the FlashPro. Not all FlashPro owners are experiencing this issue. If your sensor goes bad, it would be very hard for Honda to deny coverage because of an aftermarket cat-back exhaust.

I understood that much but, from what I gathered it seems like most of the people getting the CEL were having problems because of the sensor and once they replaced it the CEL went away. And seeing that the bulletin below lists all year 2006's as having issues with the sensor I naturally assumed it would cause a CEL on mine. As far as having the dealership replacing it, like I said, I can almost guarantee I'm going to have problems with them doing the work. What I'm confused about is the post someone made about the 8 year emissions warranty deal. What did that apply to exactly because I know for a fact I don't have a warranty from the dealership on my car. Is this a Honda specific warranty? If I showed them this service bulletin would they have to replace it anyway even though I'm not throwing a CEL at the moment?

You're potentially on the string. You might not have to pay for it, but if your dealership is a PITA, they might not do it for free. I got it done for $100 on an extended warranty. Some people here had their dealership do it at no charge. The dealer is not required to cover it. If you read the full text on the 8 year EPA warranty, it says explicitly that it does not cover oxygen sensors for the full 8 year duration. Those are covered for a term that is shorter than the factory warranty.

The TSB shows the primary O2 sensor failure/CEL is a known issue. That's not the same as a recall, where Honda will pay for the repair. Some dealerships will goodwill it. I think the billable total was between $300 and $400 for mine, but like I said, I had a $100 deductible. You could EASILY buy the part from majestic or someone online and install it yourself to cut the cost down, but you ought to consider it a possible expense.

The O2 sensor is Part 7 on this page, which they sell for $200 at Majestic and perhaps cheaper elsewhere. If you find it much cheaper, please post it here:

The secondary O2 sensor (test pipe) fix mentioned in the thread title seems to work correctly. That is a completely separate issue from the primary O2 sensor / AFR sensor and seems to work just like it is supposed to. The issue that has been brought to light in this thread is that some primary O2 sensors throw a CEL that can be fixed by changing the primary O2 sensor due to the issue Honda describes in the TSB.

Also, the TSB PDF is in the library here: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=782246

Try talking with your dealer. Mine is out of warranty and I got them to pay for half.

I just took everything off and took it back to them.. The stupid service rep told me i tampered with the sensor. The next day i go back.. He then he said it was because performance parts were installed.. finally he agreed to full warranty the sensor but he wanted me to pay his technician.. i took it to another honda and it was taken care of no questions asked.

I'm glad you got this handled.

I've been with the same service adviser at the local Honda dealer since 1998 or so, so he knows me pretty well now. He even told me that if he had mentioned anything about the mods that I have to the Honda rep, the rep probably wouldn't have covered anything. I really dislike when some dealers blame everything on mods even if it has nothing to do with the problem.

That's the problem I've always had with this dealership. They use aftermarket parts as an excuse to not cover problems even though the problems aren't caused by the aftermarket parts. Hence the reason I didn't opt for an extended warranty.

What did they charge you if you don't mind me asking?

Still no CEL and I haven't been driving to consciously avoid the CEL. I'm pleased.
