Default flashpro or standalone ecu ?

hey guys im a s2000 newb but im thinking about buying one very soon , im looking to get about 400 rwhp and occasionally race , and i know hondata flashpro only works for 06 + models , and for 00-05 you can use a standalone ecu to tune ,

my questions is , is there any real difference in what you can and cant do with a flashpro vs standalone ? because if im gonna mod the s2000 anyway , you can buy a AP1 2002 -2004 for about $17,000 here in canada and a AP2 2006-2009 your looking at $30,000 dollars or more quite a bit difference in the price , since im gonna sink 10 plus grand into the car anyway it may be better to buy an AP1 ?
