Default Haltech vs AEM EMS

So I've been contemplating what to do with this wad of cash I've been saving up and I think its about time I get my system tuned.

Question is if I should get a Haltech unit or an AEM EMS. I would really prefer to have OBD2 function and CELs, as I have emissions in TX and I'd like to be notified if things go boom. However money is a problem, otherwise I'd just buy a top of the line Haltech unit and call it a day.

I guess I would want to know what my options are here to do it "right." I've got an AEM UEGO wideband currently, so I need something that will mate up to that for tuning (reason I didnt get a Greddy EMU)

Hows the Sprint 500 haltech unit? Is it basically like an E-Manage Ultimate? Would it be enough to get a solid nitrous tune? (maximize hp via AFR and timing, dump a little fuel right before nitrous activation?)

I'm know both V1 and V2 AEM EMS's would be fine for this, but I feel like I said before, I want to retain as much of my stock "comforts" as possible.

I havent decided if I just want to run one nitrous safe tune, that has ignition timing retarded a couple degrees and AFRs set to 11s on spray, or have a N/A tune and then a switch for my nitrous tune.

How much does a tune on each unit typically run? My thought process is that a good N/A tune would run about ~200-300 and then a nitrous tune would be pretty easy to grab from there. As the experienced can probably tell, Im kind of new to the ECU scene, but feel like I know the basics relatively well.

Any help?

Get aem and when it is emissions time, put stock ecu back in.

Why not the haltech plug and play? At least with that you can check your cel with a laptop

I'd like the Haltech PnP but its a little on the expensive side, but if thats my best option I'll probably just wait and save to get it.

Anyone have any information on the Sprint 500 or the 1000 Haltech?

then your only option is KPRO (does obd2 like stock) or Haltech PnP (has CEL/obd2 like functionality, similar to stock but not identical)

So I was reading the latest kpro va AEM threa a few posts down and I feel like AEM would probably be the way to go for me, and for emissions or if I have / feel problems I can just swap my stock ecu in and pass emissions / read a code that pops up right? (obvi would have to get the car to do the problem again).

Doesn't seem like too big of a deal. I guess now I need to figure out which version I should get.

I think it more depends on what tuners you have access too and what system they are good at tuning.

Everyone in my area likes Tony at T1. But their site says they want $700 for an N/A tune on AEM EMS.. Seems pretty steep to me

Yeah that's steep for na, I thought they ranged from 300-400...
If i choose not to go the kpro route haltech is my next option, I just need to find a tuner in my area for the haltech piece. Someone was telling me induction performance tunes haltech so we'll see...paying for a wedding is a bigger money pot than my S
