Anyone have any information on the Sprint 500 or the 1000 Haltech?
I had the PS500 on my old setup, tuner had difficulty tuning it so was at the shop for a good week since it was their first time tuning it. Had a problem with the Trigger threshold, car didn't want to crank and start-up when it was warmed up. After figuring that problem out it would start up, but would crank for a good couple seconds so I decided to go with the Kpro and it was completely different. I was at 330whp with the Haltech and after Kpro installed and re-tuned I got 375whp out of it, got a smaller pulley and came to 397whp. I would go AEM personally unless you know that your tuner is knowledgeable with Haltech and has worked with it before.

Thats with any software. You will have a learning curve. I just really like haltech and how it is laid out. IF you get the pro plug in, it comes pre-loaded with a map for a stock s2000.

When I was talking about the code (CEL). The haltech will only turn on the CEL if it is a hard code. Meaning if it is a light code, like engine over limiter or something like that, it will not turn on the CEL. If you have a timing error or a bad sensor, it will turn on the CEL.

I hope that clears it up.

So if the Haltech comes with a stock map for an s2k. Would you say it would be easy for one to do minimal adjustments like AFR/timing and maybe lowering vtec by themselves for a mild N/A setup?

If you had the knowledge to do so, yes. The base map is not spot on. It gets the car running good and can be drive-able without much of issues. The basemap is no means a replacement for good tuning.

Can you hook up an AEM UEGO Wideband to the haltech to record AFRs with no problems? I know it couldn't be done on the GReddy Emanage, so that's why I am asking

Yes you can, you can hook any wideband up to the haltech and run it in closed loop.

Haltech has closed loop operation for partial and wide open throttle. You can just record the air/fuel ratio too if you just wanted to do that too. You can log it onboard the ECU too if you were doing racing that did not allow you to keep a laptop in the car.

if i hadnt landed my aem v1 for so cheap, and the newest haltech pnp was out, id go haltech. i like all the functionality it does, and if i remember right the maps are 32*32 instead of 16*16, and it has low/hi cam maps. dont get me wrong, my aem v1 box does fine, but if they were both the same price id go haltech.

as for 700 for a tune, what you have to realize is your paying the tuner for his time, and paying for dyno time. i have been lucky, i typically get the tune in the ballpark so the tuner only spends about an hour dicking with it. so 1 hour of tuner time plus one hour dyno = less then 700 bucks.

however, if your not competent enough to get it in the ballpark, then well, the tuner wont start with your f@#ked up tune cause that would take way longer.

dyno time can range from 50-100 an hour, and tuner can range from 75-150 an hour.
