i actually stay down in miami. i've tuned s2k's with both haltech and aem. at the end of the day it comes down to the tuners preference. each has their pro's and con's. me personally i prefer the haltech unit and it's what i recommend when people approach me about tuning their car.

Justin, if you do eventually find someone to do Haltech locally you are now obligated to tell me.

i do travel across the state as well as out of state. when i travel out of town though, i try to get a small group of cars ready to get tuned to make the trip worthwhile. i also have customers that make the trip down to miami.

The haltech pro plug in box is retail $1349, the map is high 1200s. The AEM is $1,251.45 on ebay. So they are very close on price, at least new.

Tuning both of them, I would rather run Haltech. The features are cleaner. The car runs better and they have CEL (via of the laptop only). The haltech box is smaller then the AEM too so it fits in the tough spots of the s2000 much better.

I thought the haltech piece allowed you to keep the in dash cell function, no laptop required....also, "running better" doesn't depend on the unit more so on the tuner. I know aem guys that haven't had trouble at all

it does. but i think what he meant was to actually read the code you would need the laptop. i don't think an obd2 scanner would be able to pull the code but i may be wrong.
