Default Long cranking time to start

I just had a supercharger kit with AEM infinity installed on my 01. Is it normal to take a lot longer for the car to start? My tuner said the Infinity will cause that as it has to run through a bunch of checks. It currently takes about 5-7 seconds to start. Is this normal?

Yes that’s normal. Almost all standalone ECU’s do that

they use a generic starting strategy that works on many motors but takes longer vs OEM ECU which use a very specific strategy for that specific motor

On my s2k i run Aem v1 and it takes about 3 seconds to start . On my Integra i run Infinity and it takes about the same 3-4 seconds . 5-7 seconds seems a little long .

Actually I timed it. About 6 seconds cold engine. Its a little less when engine is hot. Ive seen others with a aem v2 and it didn't take nearly as long.

6s doesn't sound right, I would worry about wearing out the starter prematurely.
Tune probably needs some more work.

1. Log it at a stone cold start

2. Log it at an operating temp start

3. Send logs to me or share on here via screenshot. We want to see sync time in seconds followed by crank time after successful sync.

7 seconds is too long even with AEM Infinity. Other ECUs offer pre-start delay to build oil pressure. AEM infinity does not offer such feature so there isn’t a tick-box that you might have ticked so... yes tune related it sounds like.

On a cold start sync should not take longer than 3 seconds from my experience. Once synced it shouldn’t take longer than another 2 seconds to fire.

The Infinity does not prime the pump until it is cranking thus it takes maybe a second longer to start over a V1 or V2 Aem .

it's very easy to change that setting:
