I have to hunt around to find actual instances of protest over that. The rulebook just specifies functionality, but it doesn't clarify levels of functionality other than OE.
Yep - that's the tough part. Where do you draw the line? The limiting phrase (in my mind) is: "Any OE OBD2 or newer communications port functionality must remain." My interpretation might be conservative, but the "any OE" part makes me think you'd need to be able to read emissions testing readiness flags, CEL codes, ECU parameter data streams.
If OBD2 support is added as listed, I would assume that it can meet all the functionality requirements. At least here for AZ the readiness check will be a necessity to pass emissions testing. As long as you can read from all sensors, pass readiness checks, and pull codes I would call that OE functionality. Technically the readiness flags aren't an issue if they can be made to read ready. Rules indicate that you can disable CEL/MIL indicator through software.

Can you clarify complete OBD-2 functionality vs CAN-Bus data output via the obd2 port?

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. As I said, the ECU will output codes and data, just not ALL the codes the stock ECU does and also modes 5 and 9 are not available.

Reverant, what is your background/experience with this?

Just find it odd that you joined Feb 2015.

I've been producing standalone systems since 2009. I'm an EE and programmer as a background. I only joined on Feb as I didn't have a system for the S2K before that. I'm very active and a vendor in other forums if you search around (hint hint).

Remember you are selling to us, hint hint.

Are you going to give a few for test? I am interested to see what happens, definitely may buy one.

I may give a couple away at a wholesale price, just to establish that there are definitely no differences between the USDM and the EUDM models, as it will be tested on multiple cars over here first. I'm just waiting for our test cars to get back to us first.

In some other applications, we were able to get the stock immobilizer working.

This means you have to fill in your key's codes for the ECU to fire up, but only if you choose to enable the immobilizer function (deactivated by default).

We are currently working on reverse engineering the stock S2000 immobilizer system, although it's not as trivial as we expected.
