Sorry for all the questions just looking at all the options.

Is D8 a ground? If so how does the SSR relay turn on (30-87) if both 86 and 85 are ground?

Also would it be possible to use diodes inline (D8-O2) to keep the current from back feeding into the ECU?

Pin D8 is a 'switched ground' via a triac (solid state switch) in th ECU. the problem is the daughterboard cannot handle the current load through the circut board (the triac is located in the ECU). Without the connection to ground through D8, the heater will not operate- i.e. the heater is swiched on and off from the ground side.

It is possible to just connect the heater ground straight to the body- it would be ON all the time. BUT the stock configuration uses a dudty cycle (think of the fuel injectors or google SCR heater) based off of engine temp. It is possible that the heater+exhaust would seriously shoten the life of the O2 sensor- whifh is why it was setup like this in the first place.

Good luck...

Thats how it's supposed to be wired.

Well I guess it's time to stop being lazy and order that SSR relay. Don't want to burn up my ecu.
Thank you for your help.

Starting to wonder if those codes I'm seeing when it's real cold out are related to the heater working harder/longer and pulling more current through the daughterboard. They're not stored DTCs but with the laptop Tony saw one show up as a daughterboard comm error. I saw slow heater response, and one with no code at all.

Seeing as the KPro has to come out anyway to hook up a pin for serial data for the dash, I might have them rewire it this way while it's out.

Haha, yeah, it started with a crack in my Mase mani and got a little out of hand. I was planning on doing E85 in the fall but the crack made it silly to fix it up (it wasn't repairable) then do it over again later. Word to the wise, never ask me for financial advice. The plan is to DD it still, but it would be criminal not to take it to the track.

Drivetrain and fuel system has been done for a while, expect more is by now. I've not been in to the shop for a while but last I talked we were waiting on A/C relocate parts. I bought the dash and that's on it's way so I'll see where it's at when I drop that off. Then it'll just be finding time to get it tuned. Might be someone will drop out and I can snipe a spot, else it'll be whenever they can fit me in.

Better stop there because I don't want to hijack the thread. That's the downside of not doing the work myself, other than losing man-cred, I don't have a build thread to ramble about this stuff in.

Yup, took a year of daily abuse but the resonance I got at ~3k rpm did a number on it in the end. They've got nothing but good things to say about how tough the Full-Race parts are, guess we'll see.
