Mtrey is my daily driver. I have wanted to boost that for a longgggggg time. Suprisngly it has been very reliable for a daily driver so I didn't have the heart to hack up such a clean car. That car would be quick and it feels so much more stable at high speeds

It's worth looking @.

I put a lsd in my fwd Si, and a year later broke the contershaft.

Bought a "new" used one for $60 bucks, and swapped it out.

Pressed off the gears ( I bought a $100 dollar Harbor Frieght hydrollic press for this) and put it all together.

Worked perfect until I sold it.

Never know.

i been through 3 transmissions now

mainshaft, 2nd gear, and synchros, at Honda Dealership is like $6-700 if i remember then getting it rebuild its probably another $3-400, its better to just to buy a used ap2 tranny!!!

^^What kind of power are you making and do you no-lift when you shift and bang the gears hard? I shift smooth and very quick and dont no-lift and am at 650 whp/442 wtq and havent broken any trannies yet.

I was talking about this with my tuner and he suggested something that I am more than likely going to try. He had talked to someone from PFI Speed out of Colorado about how they were regularly breaking a lot of transmissions and trying to find a feasible solution. They made a change from using cryo treated gears to HEAT treated internals, and their transmissions went from lasting 3 runs to an entire race season. I do understand that these are front wheel drive trans they are tinkering with instead of RWD so Im not sure how the effects will differ. Also, I was quoted only ~$225 for having the full set of reduction gears heat treated. If that would help my transmission last another, maybe 10k miles, to me it would totally be worth the 200 bucks. Perhaps someone else can give me a better idea why this would or would not work

The 2 times I broke second gear was halfway through the gear. It didn't break from shock, it broke from power.

We used to treat all of our stock stuff back when we raced FWD Hondas. There were no aftermarket gears available then, and it seems to prolong the life. It's still just a bandaid, but it did seem to help. These were 8-9 second FWD cars.

is it gears that are weak or are we having the same old honda bendy case/shaft issue?
