Default 12psi sc pulley? what would that give

i was looking in the for sale forum and saw a vortech crank pulley, i am switching to the sc world this weekend and i was interested to know that a pulley this size would do for me. im planning on running 550cc's with an e-manage system and the sc comes with the after cooler.

Rough idle and midrange drivability is my guess.

Ok, this is just my opinion, but there has to be a point where going above a certain level has special requirements. I think it's about 9psi and the special requirement is proper engine management.

I wouldn't advise a 12psi pulley without an AEM EMS and a GM 3 BAR MAP sensor.

Others may say different.

not hating at all on your advise but i think the AEM EMS is and over rated, expensive, and under developed (new versions every freakin 6months) piece of equipment that not nearly enough people know how to almost properly tune. (im a little bitter with that system) thats why i am getting rid of my set up to go with sc and emanage.

The only part I agree with is the last bit. But just because you can't find a decent tuner doesn't reflect badly on the AEM EMS IMNSHO.

thats why i am getting rid of my set up to go with sc and emanage.
Well I've had experience with the AEM and the E-manage and I can tell you for a fact that 12psi is too much for a stock ECU/piggy back system and the 550s are just a bit too large for the E-manage to handle properly in the midrange. Another tuner may tell you different but then it seems to me that tuners are the source of your problems in the first place.

This reminds me of a friend of mine when we were kids. He got a job delivering pizzas but told me he doesn't like pizzas. I said how can you not like pizza? It can be so many different things. He said he once drank a case of beer and ate a pizza and threw up. So he gave up pizza.

good words...

i feel that alot of people buy the AEM EMS and believe that they can have it tuned and thereafter continue to add perfomance parts and thair car will be fine.. or if they get a rough map then it will be fine to drive their car like that. and thats when people gain damage not needed. but you can definatly say i have had probley one of the hardest times with the EMS than any one out their and it wasnt for the 2 reasons i just said. but i will definely not buy the 12psi pulley. is their anything you would suggest to use with the set up im going with??

I wouldn't run the E-manage again. Too much of a hack. I'd have a serious look at the E-manage Ultimate. It looks like it can drive the injectors properly and I assume the timing control is sorted too.

That said, you can bet the same tuners will have the same sort of problems and Greddy are the worst at after sales support. But the community support is pretty good. I was active on the Yahoo E-manage group and that was helpful.

The EMS is hands donw the best tunning tool. If you actually know what you are doing with it then you can't go wrong. Never messed with the E-managa but heard some bad things and like said above, can not handle big injectors, you'll need more than 550's for 12 psi and a headgasket would be nice.
