Default 2001 S2000 Build

Hi everyone,

Last weekend I bought a 2001 S2000 with 45,000 miles. It was driven by a older gentleman. Now I figured its time to add some boost. I plan on going turbo. I want to push 400hp to the wheels at most. I have been doing alot of research over the last few days. I feel that the best kit is the PFab stage 1 kit. I talked to them and they said I could swap out the log style manifold out for their tubular style manifold. I am not a fan of log styles so I am trying to avoid them without breaking the bank. I guess my few questions for you guys is,

Is 400 HP safe to run daily?
I know that second gear is very weak on this transmissions, will I be safe around 400 HP driving with vigor?
Also, the rear diff is also weak, will I be okay?
I live in Wisconsin, if I chose to use a K-Pro will I be able to pass emissions?

Any help would be great!

Thanks,

Ty

400whp with good tuning should be no problem. Second gear and the diff will be fine at that power level with proper driving technique (don't sidestep the clutch!) drive hard...just don't abuse the drive train and expect it not to fail. The K-Pro should be able to pass a "plug in" OBDII check...the turbo setup will probably not pass a visual lol.

Not to be an ass but there is a plethura of information on this forum that can answer everything about safe power, tuning, gas, boost, and how much power each component of the S2000 can handle. I usually use Google for any question and just add on S2ki at the end haha.

Welcome to boost....prepare to empty your pockets.

You will enjoy it. As for the questions tough to answer as some have had no problems with all your concerns and others have had problems to varying degrees.

Hope that helps.

400whp on a log manifold is gonna be hard to get without pushing close to 20psi, which I wouldn't wanna do on a stock engine. The problem with the tubular manifold however is the heat issues. Especially Pfab, their tubular manifolds produce a ton of heat so you would need to relocate at minimum the battery and the fuse box, preferably the AC lines as well.

Also, if youre worried about breaking 2nd gear, you could always limit the boost in 1st and 2nd in order to keep the abuse down.

And yes, Kpro can pass emissions.
