Oops, 80 to 85 is a little shy of what engine builders on the west coast are using. Out here with ARP studs they use 95 - 100 ft lbs with the lube. They also recommend doing a re-torque with the studs.
Well the instructions said 80 or 85 ft. lbs and we followed the directions perfectly. I just spoke to Ya about retorque and he said not to worry about it.

I think the reason mine failed was from a warped head to begin with - I did overheat to 235 one time when I was N/A (long story).

I'm going to get my head machined, install the new gasket, and torque the studs down to 100 ft. lbs with moly lube. This bitch is staying put

i'm running 10psi on stock compression, custom kit, i make 375hp/260tq. i daily drive it 50+ miles everyday, now almost 12k boosted. never had a problem. i also agree with mase , its all in the tune. with that said i plan on upgrading from stock clutch and going with the aem water/meth kit and shooting for 400...

Wouldnt you make more power with a 3mm headgasket than a stock one bc you can go higher with how much boost your run?
Yes, up to a point.

Lower comp ratio will let you run higher boost _without_ having to pull timing to fight detonation. Here's how it breaks down:

Lower comp. ratio = higher boost AND less ignition timing being pulled

Higher comp. ratio = lower boost OR timing being pulled OR both

or, because all things are relative, somewhere in between.

i want a mase tune just like you 9kfever maybe once I move back to florida he can do it. Then I will only be a hour away from him I myself am still torn on if a 3mm hg and maybe 15lbs of boost is just as reliable in the long term as stock cr and a low boost.

I think it's even worth it to borrow a pickup truck from a friend, rent a trailer, or a tow dolly (disconnect the driveshaft for towing) and take the car to the tuning shop to get a good tune. Anyone who's ever done a turbo install will agree that all of F/I is only as good as the tune. Reliable, too.

I want a good tune too(hopefully i can save enough money to get a tune from Mase!!!)), but i also want a 3mm headgasket as well.

Anyways back to the main topic (finding out what combo of things work to install a 3mm headgasket). Anyone else who installed one and hasnt had problems for a while?
Thanks
