major suckage.

look into buying a stock F22 shortblock low mileage. might be the cheapest easiest solution.

the FRM safe pistons are a cool idea, but between the cost of the parts and the cost of the work to make the block work, its very close to a new laskey built sleeved shortblock. just my 2 cents.

my local shop charges ~150 to hone the block, the pistons are about 100-150 more than "normal"

how is that even close to a new built sleeved block?

inlinepro quoted 2700 for complete job to irishflame. that was pistons, rods, blah blah everything and installed into his block.

for 3500 you can get a laskey built sleeved shortblock. to me, 800 bucks more is well worth it for the stronger piston friendly sleeves. get a stock bored built block. problems come up, bore to 88 and try again. problems again bore to 89 and try again.

I love the idea of meth in theory, but in practice it has its limits and drawbacks. I figured the drawbacks outweighed the benefits and removed it from my car. I hope you get it all back together and get some c16 in there. Good luck!

not sure about laskey... seeing all the issues lately..

i build my own stuff and to have a block sleeved is another 1000 bux on the build.. not worth it IMHO

Depending on the rods IP is quoting, I think $2700 is at little high.

with BC rods.. I'd say ~2200 for a shortblock is reasonable.

aebs sleeves usually run around 1200, wiseco pistons are about 200 less than Mahle's, so 1000 bux on top of it..

I am at 448 hp at 16 psi on 91 octane, but canadian 91 doesn't have any ethanol in it so it does not cool as well.

650whp 25psi
93+meth as usual

"assuming" cylinder is ok and not out of round, I might just get another set of stock pistons/rings and drop them back in.

Damn man, sorry to hear this.

As for the little bit of smoke coming out of the filter on your catch can at idle, thats pretty much normal I believe. When I pop the hood after driving it for a while, I can see some faint smoke swirls at times with it idling.

As far as meth....I say scrap it with the problems you have had with you TPS and now the engine and go to e85.

What do you guys think happened, popped ring land? What kind of spikes of detonation did you see, voltage wise? Was it just a quick spike or multiple spikes that would tell you detonation is really present?
