I started to mess with it tonight, but couldn't get the crank pulley off by myself. Engine isn't on a stand yet, and I couldn't hold the flywheel AND use the wrench, lol.
Maybe this weekend I'll finally get it apart.
anyone have a good how-to, DIY about what order to take it apart?
I haven't messed with a cam chain before, only a belt on my B & D series when I rebuilt them.
I'm just gonna run a switch on the main power wire for the meth pump. I am stressed out with a lot of non car related stuff as well that's why I haven't begun to paint my bay.
I walk by it everyday and don't wanna look at it sometimes. Cam chain is easy remove tct remove allen bolt make sure you don't drop the washer in the motor on that sprocket and it comes right out. Hope to see this thing back on the dyno soon.
before I got tuned the last time I put the stock hg back on my cyl 4 was scored and it still made 521 on 17 almost 18 psi with a conservative tune.

Its very simple. Pull out tct pull sprocket out lift head out the way.
I haven't cracked the VC yet.
Yes, the cam/rocker assembly has to come out to get to the head studs or bolts, whichever you have. Do you have a Helms manual? They come in real handy....
Also, when you unbolt the cam cap bolts, use a soft blow hammer and tap the caps to get them to release and pop up so you can take them off. Be very gentle doing this and dont let them get bound up when they release if you can help it. The valve spring pressure will push up on them also and help them release. You'll see what I mean when you start to pull them.
One more thing, leave the whole cam and rocker assembly together with the cams still in the upper caps and the bolts still in their place on the upper caps and use rubber bands to hold the rockers up. Wrap a rubber band around a couple of the rockers on the intake side and then stretch it over to a couple other rockers on the exhaust side so they hold eachother up and so on until they all are being held up by rubber bands. You'll also see what I mean when you do it. It helps a lot in keeping the rocker pins from falling out and also makes it much easier when putting the cams back in by keeping the rockers up and out of the way. Now, just grab the cams with one hand on one end and the other hand on the other end and lift the whole assemply out together and DONT turn the cam/rocker assembly on its side or anything. Keep it flat when you pull it off and also lay it flat on a bag and wrap it up but dont turn it on its side or anything or some of the rocker pins could fall out. Its a big pain if that happens.

Good advice, hopefully depending on the time tonight / tomorrow night, I can get the motor on a stand and try to get her apart and assess the damage.
Then if it's not to bad, order parts and get working on getting her back together for another retune, lol.
