Just seems like a crazy angle since it sits soo close to the firewall.

Direct port would be nice. Stock pistons ftw everyone knows the motor can handle 600whp just keep it at that 80 percent of the carrs aren't gonna touch you on the street anyways. Pumpgas readily available everywhere and meth is cheap compared to c16.

stock pistons can handle alot, but 11:1 compression with a bunch of boost is asking for trouble, especially when you throw pump gas into the mix.

I'd say at least mill the domes off or use ap2 pistons with the ap1 crank

Not knowing much about OEM Honda rotating assembly, I would at least have aftermarket forged pistons made specifically for a forced induction application.

How much can the stock con rods take?

the sleeves make it pita to get pistons in stock block. even with frm friendly pistons, you need to hone the block to get a fresh surface.

idk man. if your stock sleeve is ****ed, either built block or buy a stock bottom end used in the FS section.

I don't follow, you saying the friction of the material against the rings makes it tough?

I'm sure some wd40/etc would help the process.

I'm going to pull it out tomorrow, it's at my buddies garage, he's simply got more room than I have for pulling a motor/etc.

Starting tomorrow @ 8:30, hopefully will only take a few hrs, and by noon I'll have some sort of idea of what the scoop is.

I'll post up.

not sure about laskey... seeing all the issues lately..

i build my own stuff and to have a block sleeved is another 1000 bux on the build.. not worth it IMHO

Depending on the rods IP is quoting, I think $2700 is at little high.

with BC rods.. I'd say ~2200 for a shortblock is reasonable.

aebs sleeves usually run around 1200, wiseco pistons are about 200 less than Mahle's, so 1000 bux on top of it..
If it was my car I would not run a Wiseco piston for a car that is going to make more than 650whp. By experience I broke an "Upgraded wrist pin" from Wiseco making 720whp.

If it was my car & im on a budget, this is what I would run:

-Mahle 9:5:1 comp Coated forged pistons (for Stock Sleeves) Est. $690
-Brian Crower HP Rods Est. $600
-ARP Head studs Est. $160
-New Bearings Est. $130
-OEM Head gasket Est. $80
-Upgraded Dual Springs & Ti-retainers kit Est. $380

SubTotal: $2040

And you got yourself a 700whp motor!

Unless you have the $$$ for the sleeves & that will be a different story.

Thanks,

Fernando @ Kings Performance

The motor is stuck between the firewall and the front crossmember..

Everytime we try to get it out, it gets wedged. I'm thinking of just bolting it back down and taking the tranny off, I don't see how taking the lower subframe out will help.

It only hits on the back firewall and crossmember??????????????????????

If I had dropped the tranny, it would have come straight out today.
